I am interested in new ways of conceptualizing the moving image and I am investigating the illusion of motion created by exploiting the optical phenomenon “persistence of vision.” This video is created by superimposing a sequence of still images of jumping up (forwards and backwards) on to a window. The result is a stop-motion animation of the artist jumping up and down on a rooftop. There is a temporal disharmony that is created by the time-lapse of the entire day of the background and the regular time of the stop-motion animation of the foreground. The video is looped backwards and forwards. |
